Why this plate earns its place
The 16cm coupe plate is the working standard side plate across restaurants, cafés, and hotels. It's the right size for bread, a starter, or the transition course — small enough to read as a considered step in service, large enough to hold a proper portion. Vitrified stoneware fires to full density at high temperature, which means two things: it's non-porous (won't absorb water, oils, or staining matter), and it's chip-resistant in a way that glazed earthenware simply isn't. That matters in a professional kitchen where plates survive the pass, the dishwasher's 60 °C cycles, and being stacked warm in bussing carts.
The granite speckle glaze is the visual hook. It's baked into the clay itself, not applied on top, so it doesn't wear away or fade through service. Cool grey reads as contemporary — a step up from neutral white — without needing custom branding or pattern investment. Stack them tight; the coupe rim means each plate nests flat without lip collision.
