THE WORKING VIEW

Why this plate earns its place

At 29cm, this is the largest dinner plate in the Ariane Point range—it trades depth for surface area. The embossed rim sits on a gentle slope, leaving the well wide and open for substantial plating. Vitrified porcelain fires glaze and body into one material, so thermal shock from icy plating wells to 65°C dishwash cycles doesn't cause crazing. The white glaze stays bright through hundreds of cycles without yellowing or dulling.

The extra diameter accommodates full mains—protein, starch, and vegetable—without crowding. Fine-dining restaurants often choose this size for tasting menus where each plate must carry multiple components. It's also the standard in high-volume catering where space and generosity signal quality. The embossed rim, subtle rather than ornamental, lifts the plate visually without demanding elaborate plating. Stacking remains efficient: 29cm plates sit flat and secure, holding around 60–80 per trolley tier.

BEFORE YOU BUY

Questions, answered straight

29cm is sized to fit modern place settings without overhanging on a standard table. Beyond 29cm, plates become harder to manage in transport and can overhang the edge of standard chafing dishes.

No. The embossment is shallow and the rim sits on a smooth glaze. Water runs off during the spin cycle, and debris doesn't lodge in the profile.

Charger plates (32–35cm) are service-only; food doesn't sit on them. The 29cm dinner plate carries the full meal. This is larger than most dinner plates but smaller and more functional than a charger.

Wash time is the same (all plates go through the same cycle), but drying time is slightly longer because the surface area holds more water. A quick polish speeds service.

It depends on your plating philosophy. Contemporary fine dining often uses large plates for sparse, high-concept plating. Traditional services find it generous. It's the maximum size before plates become impractical for service.
