Why this plate earns its place
The hand-painted Plume design sits on a 220mm walled plate — the raised edge contains sauces and coulis without overflow, essential when plating multiple components at pace. Porcelain fires harder than earthenware and tolerates repeated dishwasher cycles without crazing, keeping the glazed surface intact through a full service.
The walled profile also improves stack stability, protecting the glaze during storage and transport. At 20mm height, the rim provides enough definition to frame a plated dish without overwhelming the food, and the 0.49 kg weight per plate keeps manual handling manageable through a busy kitchen.
The Plume effect — layers of ultramarine bleeding into cream — comes from Churchill's hand-decoration process, creating depth that lifts the presentation without the cost of bespoke tableware. Each plate renders the design individually, so consistency is visual rather than identical; diners see intentional craft rather than mass production.
