Why this cup earns its place
Espresso service demands a cup sized exactly right: 89ml holds a properly pulled espresso (typically 25–30ml extraction) plus crema, without crowding a saucer or hand. At 55mm diameter and 65mm height, these cups sit stable when held and nest comfortably on an espresso saucer without overhang.
Porcelain is the material built for this work. It absorbs the thermal shock of near-boiling water without the glaze crazing that appears in cheaper ceramics, and it survives dozens of dishwasher cycles without pattern degradation or colour loss. When espresso brews come fast in a morning service, porcelain cups can run continuous through a dishwasher without glaze breakdown.
The Monochrome range carries an appearance reminiscent of hand-thrown pottery while surviving commercial passthrough washing without colour shift. Cinnamon brown is neutral under warm service lighting and doesn't show water spots as readily as lighter glazes. Churchill backs the porcelain with a 5-year edge-chip warranty—a safeguard worth noting when breakage hits.
