THE WORKING VIEW

Why this bowl earns its place

A large serving bowl with a pronounced rim, built for bringing dishes to table or buffet presentation. The 30 cm diameter and generous capacity make it the working horse of sharing service—sauces, sides, salads and portions for four or more. The Mineral pattern adds subtle texture that softens the whiteness without introducing visual noise.

Vitrified porcelain fires as one material, which means the glaze and body become inseparable. This makes it highly resistant to crazing from thermal shock and water absorption—problems that plague earthenware and stoneware in high-use kitchens. The rim is designed to be sturdy without chipping, and the white finish lets food presentation take centre stage.

Large bowls see fewer dishwasher cycles than plates but more manual handling. Vitrified porcelain tolerates both. The wide base provides stability on a table, and the rim prevents contents from sloshing during plating and service.

BEFORE YOU BUY

Questions, answered straight

Roughly 1.5–2 litres at functional serving capacity. The 30 cm diameter holds four generous portions of pasta, salad, or vegetables with room to serve from a spoon without crowding.

With caution. They nest, but only 2–3 high owing to weight and size. Manual stacking during storage is practical; dishwasher stacking depends on rack size.

Vitrified porcelain handles oven temperatures without thermal shock (unlike some stoneware), but this bowl is designed for ambient and cold service. Oven-to-table is not a primary use case.

Vitrified porcelain is chip-resistant compared to earthenware. The rim is a smooth curve, not an undercut or fragile edge. Dropped or stacked carelessly will chip any ceramic; normal use will not.

A rimmed bowl (this one) has a defined ledge that lifts the sides away from the plate and makes plating faster. It also adds visual definition and works better for buffet and tableside service. Non-rimmed bowls are simpler and stack more efficiently.
