THE WORKING VIEW

Why this bowl earns its place

The 23cm bowl is the working size for contemporary sharing menus and family-style plating across restaurants and hotels. Seventy-six centilitres is enough to plate a salad, a grain bowl, or a vegetable dish for four without dominating the table — the coupe shape presents the food at an angle and tucks into a place setting without crowding the rim space. Vitrified stoneware handles the transition: from pass to table without cooling the food, then straight from the table into a 65 °C dishwasher cycle without thermal shock or glaze failure. The material is non-porous, so sauces and oils don't sink into the body; it's chip-resistant, so edges survive years of stacking and transport.

The granite speckle glaze is understated and contemporary. It works equally on a fine-dining table and a casual café counter. The coupe lip means even stacking — you can nest four or five bowls without rim-to-rim contact that chips edges. Cool grey grounds the food visually; it doesn't compete.

BEFORE YOU BUY

Questions, answered straight

Vitrified stoneware is designed for direct pass-to-table service. Food at 60 °C or hotter is standard. Avoid direct contact with open flame or extreme temperature jumps (e.g., from a walk-in to a plate warmer), but kitchen-standard cycles are safe.

Yes. You can plate a chilled salad or serve warm risotto in the same bowl without issue. The glaze and body are non-porous, so flavour and colour don't linger between services.

The coupe profile allows four to five bowls per stack if stacked flat-to-flat. The nesting lip prevents rim collision, which is where chips happen.

The granite speckle is baked into the glaze, so it won't fade. High-temperature dishwashing can leave water spots or film, but this washes off or buffs out with standard rinse. The glaze itself will stay consistent across years.

A 23cm bowl works with a 27–30cm main plate and a 16cm side plate. The proportions balance visually, and stacking works smoothly if you're doing multiplate buffet or catering service.
