THE WORKING VIEW

Why this bowl earns its place

A 7.5 cm round bowl sized for side portions: sauces, dressings, small vegetables, or amuse-bouche. Vitrified porcelain means it doesn't absorb flavours or stains from oils and spices, and the glaze survives repeated dishwash without crazing or discolouration.

The Shell Blue hand-finished glaze gives each piece slight variation, which reads as intentional craft even on a small bowl. Works equally well chilled (for dips or cold coulis) or at room temperature for warm sauces. Stacks efficiently and breaks rarely because the walls are thick and the rim is glazed all the way round.

Common in restaurants and hotels for mise-en-place service, dipping sauces, and palate-cleanser portions. Event caterers favour the size for standardising portions and serving sides during plated events.

BEFORE YOU BUY

Questions, answered straight

A 7.5 cm bowl holds roughly 150–180 ml, depending on what you're serving. Enough for a standard sauce portion or garnish.

Yes. Porcelain heats evenly and is safe for microwave use, though diners will find a warm bowl handle-friendly when holding soup or sauce.

Yes. It can withstand oven temperatures, making it suitable for warming before service or holding in a pass.

Vitrified porcelain is durable, and this small size stacks safely if you stack up to 15–20 high. Breakage is rare unless dropped or packed too tightly in a crate.

Yes, but it's sized and designed for small portions and side service rather than as a main soup bowl. It works well for amuse-bouche, sample portions, or poured sauces.

Vitrified porcelain is harder and less porous than glazed ceramic, so it resists staining, doesn't absorb strong flavours, and lasts longer under heavy use.
