THE WORKING VIEW

Why this bowl earns its place

Melamine bowls give you durability without the weight or breakage risk of ceramics—critical in fast-paced kitchens where bowls are handled constantly and stacked high. This 200 ml size is the working portion bowl: large enough for a generous sauce serve, small enough to pair with mains without bulk. The sand glaze is neutral enough to let plating show, but dense enough that condensation or minor spills don't mark it.

The Mirage finish lifts simple plates and bowls by giving them a textured, hand-finished appearance—the kind of detail that reads as intentional in a plated service. Melamine holds heat adequately for room-temperature sauces and can go through passthrough dishwashers without degrading, so it pulls double duty in both front and back.

BEFORE YOU BUY

Questions, answered straight

Yes. Melamine is built for passthrough cycles at 65–80 °C. It will not chip, warp, or discolour under normal commercial washing. Avoid bleach-based rinses, which can dull the finish over time.

200 ml is standard for sauce portions at the pass. It's large enough for a full serving of hollandaise or brown butter without spilling during handoff, and small enough not to crowd the plate.

The textured glaze resists visible watermarks better than gloss. Turmeric and tomato can stain melamine over months of use, but this is cosmetic, not structural. Replacement is economical.

Weight. You move hundreds of bowls daily. Melamine is half the weight of equivalent crockery, reduces dropped-bowl incidents, and requires no replacement after chips. The trade-off is purely durability per hour of service.

Two to three years in high-turnover venues (500+ covers daily), longer in moderate use. The finish may dull slightly, but the bowl itself remains functional until you elect to refresh.

Melamine should not be heated above 80 °C. It is not oven-safe. Use only for chilled or room-temperature service.
