Why this plastic mixing bowl earns its place
This mid-size bowl bridges small glazes and full batch work — a workhorse for pancake batter, custard, whipped cream, and dough fermentation. At 4.5 litres, it holds enough for a morning pastry service without the reach of a larger bowl. The 280 mm diameter sits stable on most prep surfaces and clears standard mixer arms. The white polypropylene takes turmeric and cocoa staining less readily than melamine, staying visibly clean longer in a busy prep kitchen.
Polypropylene handles the full cycle of commercial bakery life: hot dishwasher at 60°C, freezer storage for prepared batches, and damp corner cupboards without crazing or becoming brittle. The material is both dishwasher-safe and freezer-safe, so bulk-prepped dairy mixes or fermenting dough sit inside without risk. A 130 mm height (relatively deep for the capacity) keeps batter low and stable, reducing splash when folding or whisking. The 260-gram weight means easy handling even during heavy service.
Nesting with the rest of the Schneider range, multiple bowls stack tight in a single cupboard — crucial in a bakery where you cycle through three or four bowls per service. The trade-off: polypropylene isn't microwave-safe and softens above 80°C, so hot sauces or gravies need a different vessel.
