Built for the
opening-day rush.
A brand-new bakery in an awkward-shaped unit, on a tight deadline, in the middle of Swansea city centre — display refrigeration built to give customers the wow factor, and a back-of-house built to keep up with them.
The job
The Crazy Baker & Co needed a brand-new store built from scratch in the heart of Swansea city centre. The unit itself was an awkward shape, so the layout had to be planned carefully to make the space work efficiently for both staff and customers.
The owner had a clear vision for the store, but it took several site visits and multiple layout options — plans, drawings and equipment choices worked through together — to land on the final design, all while working to tight deadlines with the store needing to be ready for opening day.
The challenge
A new store, an odd-shaped space, and a fixed opening day — every decision on this job had to work around the other two.
An awkward-shaped unit
The shape of the unit meant the layout needed careful planning to make the space work for both staff and customers. Several site visits and layout options were worked through with the owner before the final design was agreed.
A tight deadline
The project was working to tight deadlines, with the store needing to be completed and ready for opening day.
A city centre location
Being in a busy part of Swansea city centre, deliveries, access and installation work all had to be carefully planned to reduce disruption and keep the project moving.
The solution
Craven Cooling worked closely with the owner through the planning stage to design the most efficient layout for the store — split front-of-house and back-of-house, each built around what it needed to do.

The wow factor.
The front-of-house display area was designed to create a strong visual impact — that “wow factor” the moment a customer walks in.
The display refrigeration was positioned to showcase products clearly, improve customer flow, and help drive impulse sales — the first thing every customer sees on a busy Swansea high street.

Before / after
From a bare shell to a bakery built for a Swansea city centre queue. Drag the line.

From an awkward-shaped empty unit to a fully working bakery-café — display, prep, cooking and storage, planned around one thing: keeping the counter moving on a busy Swansea high street.
The kit
The full equipment package, supplied and delivered for opening day.
